About

Michael Larsson is a visual composer who works with photography, video and motion graphics to manipulate light and imagery. He also dabbles in sound design with roots in electronic music, producing sets for ambience and soundtracks. Multi-disciplinary experimentation is his method of exploration.

His projects span over several disciplines using analogue and digital media, mixing, re-mixing and constructing new material and frameworks as a result of translated inspiration from everyday impressions. The audiovisual mesh Michael creates is presented not only in a frame but also extend to audiovisual performances and installation works where both image and sound appear in a multitude of constellations and forms, ranging from single channel videos to multi-dimensional projection mapped large-scale works.

In the line of his works one can often find thematics dealing with human perception, spatial (re-) configurations and time (re-framings) in relation to the context of human interaction/sensory stimuli. The approach to the time-space continuum can also be seen in many of Michael’s performances where improvisation plays a central role when live composition and editing techniques are used.

Furthermore, Michael curates video art works which form part of an international network between Sweden, Greece and Singapore. He also works as a teacher/consultant and conducts workshops in the fields of: video art history, creative video editing, installation techniques and methodologies and improvisation/live video editing/performance.
