Epileptic Strobe – a newmodule for Modul8
Last weekend I threw together a strobe module for Modul8. Imagine combining a disco strobe with the flash function in Modul8 and adding some steroids. You can for example pick strobe color and the flicker frequency. What I like the most is the option to flicker the ”layer alpha” instead of color. This is probably the first Modul8 module that comes with a warning label.

I’ve got stuck on typographic animations on YouTube. This one takes typographic animation to a whole new level. A fun genre to get inspiration from.
Mal Au Pixel 2009
The next edition of the french Mal Au Pixel festival is being held in St-Ouen on may 29 – june. The program will be nailed sometime by the end of february, so there is still time to apply. Mal Au Pixel is part of the Pixelache network.

Rocky strip about VJ-ing
I just found this (probably old?) comic strip on Rocky’s MySpace page where Mange just started doing video art but Klasse disses him stone cold. It’s couple of good puns in this strip. (Rocky is a swedish cartoon by Martin Kellerman).
Multitouch for Mac/Win/Linux
The Beta, or tbeta as it’s also called is a open source / cross platform program for video tracking and multi touch. It takes a video stream and sends out tracking and touch events. The program also communicate with software that handles the TUIO and OSC protocols.

Time for another Mapping Festival
The 5th edition of the Mapping Fesival will take part on may 8-17 in Geneva, Switzerland. It’s Garagecube, the creators of the VJ software Modul8 that hosts the festival. This year the theme is to take the projections to the streets of Geneva. Beside the main theme: lectures, workshops, performances, installations and club gigs. Last day for applications is january 26, every thing you need to know is here.
Keep this in mind: The Mapping Festival is pretty close to Pixelache, Helsinki (April 2-5) and will probably clash with the New Media Meeting in Norrköping that is scheduled to take part already in may this year.
