New DJ mixer from Denon with V-Link

Futuremusic writes that Denon has just announced DN-X1600, a digital DJ mixer with built in USB sound card, 4 MIDI layers and Roland’s V-link. The V-Link enables you to control some of Roland’s video equipment like the effects of the V-4 and V-8 mixer, linking them to the tempo of the music. Futuremusic claims that the V-link is the hottest feature of Denon’s new mixer. Any VJ who has played around with the effects on the V-4 and the V-8 knows how cheesy they are. So if this is the hottest feature of Denon’s new mixer – I’d say it’s not so hot. If you link poo to the tempo, it will just become rhythmic poo.

Vidiots + Dmitry Fyodorov = true?

The techno duo Dmitry Fyodorov has been out shopping for audio visual collaborators. For their last gig at Debaser Medis, they’ve teemed up with the Vidiots. I know that Dmitry Fyodorov had high expectations going in to their search. They were mentioning some really nice references from the german Minus label. They can not have been disappointed with what the Vidiots did at Debaser. Adding some old school studio monitors and a video matrix to the setup was a really nice touch! We will have to see if this collaboration will last but I now for sure that they plan to do another gig together in Malmö shortly.

“Absolutely unique, Victims offers dreamlike images of a culture caught in madness.
Painful to watch because we all know the tragic story of Europe during the Third Reich;
this non-verbal, experimental short film is compelling and carefully crafted.”
